AWAH Z2 One-Way Bearing Replacement Method for Drill Input Adapter
The built-in one-way bearing inside the drill adapter of the AWAH Z2 is a consumable part. If the electric drill cannot transmit power when rotating counterclockwise, the one-way bearing may need replacement.
1. Design Function of the One-Way Bearing
A one-way bearing is built into the drill adapter of the AWAH Z2. It enables power input when the electric drill rotates counterclockwise and free rotation during clockwise rotation, eliminating the risk of injury caused by reverse rotation of the electric drill.

When lifting loads, severe overloading will cause excessive wear of internal gears and deformation of drive shafts, resulting in premature equipment failure and safety hazards. For user safety and maintainability, the AWAH Z2 adopts a one-way bearing transmission solution in its design. With moderate strength, low cost, easy availability and compact lightweight size, the one-way bearing is designed to fail preferentially under overload rather than the harder-to-repair internal components. This further prevents more severe hazards such as rope breakage. Therefore, it serves as an early warning mechanism.
2. Failure Mechanism of the One-Way Bearing
Tests show that the one-way bearing of the AWAH Z2 will fail under a tension of approximately 7 kN. Repeated overloads (lifting weight exceeding 150 kg) can also cause fatigue failure of the one-way bearing. The greater the overload weight, the faster the failure occurs.
The rated lifting load limit of the AWAH Z2 is 150 kg, calculated using a standard design factor of 4 for metal products. That is, the Work Load Limit is calculated by dividing the failure torque of the one-way bearing by the design factor, with consideration for sample deviation and a small safety margin. (The one-way bearing is an outsourced component; a tiny fraction of units may not reach the rated strength, with correspondingly shorter service life.)
3. Risks of Failed One-Way Bearing
After the one-way bearing fails, power input for lifting becomes unavailable, yet other functions of the AWAH Z2 including self-locking and descent remain unaffected. There is no direct safety hazard.
When power input fails, first inspect whether the one-way bearing is damaged. It is recommended to carry one spare pre-assembled drill adapter with one-way bearing together with the AWAH Z2 to the worksite for on-demand replacement to maintain construction progress.
