Explanation of the Outdoor Air Conditioner Unit Fall Accident During AWAH Z2 Operation
When operating the AWAH Z2, attention must be paid to fall hazards. To alert customers, we have issued the First AWAH Z2 Improper Operation Accident Report based on factual information. The primary designed function of the AWAH Z2 is a high-efficiency multi-purpose pulley for load lifting.
To mitigate safety risks, we have highlighted key safe operation procedures in the instruction manual with illustrations and red warning texts. The marking “A backup safety system must be used” is also clearly printed on the product itself.
Given that general users may not have received systematic rope technique training and their safety awareness needs to be improved, we have also provided relatively systematic guidance on general safety rules for work at height in the User Manual (available for download from our official website: [ www.awah.cn ].
The AWAH Z2 is currently sold on a pre-order and build-to-order basis. All customers are added to WeChat groups, and safety training is delivered both before and after shipment. The training repeatedly emphasizes that the AWAH Z2 must be used with a backup safety system. This arrangement takes into account that ordinary workers transitioning from suspended work with seat-type single-person suspension rigs carry inherent safety risks in their operating habits (for example, neglecting to hand-control the rope control end before lowering loads).
Meanwhile, we have invited experts in rope technique to host live broadcasts on WeChat groups and Douyin to explain risk management and safe operating procedures. Key techniques are shared as videos within customer groups, and also published on AWAH‘s official Douyin account, as well as the Douyin and WeChat Channels accounts of multiple air-conditioning industry practitioners…
Unfortunately, even after implementing all the above measures, the outdoor air conditioner unit fall accident still occurred. We deeply regret this incident and are relieved that no injuries were sustained. To prevent recurrence of similar accidents, we will strengthen safety efforts in three aspects:
First, continue to enhance customer training and further emphasize the importance of the backup safety system.
Second, distribute this incident report to all customers to achieve the intended warning effect.
Third, continuously improve product functions to achieve automatic load stopping in the event of a fall as far as possible. This may result in increased equipment weight and a certain reduction in operational convenience, among other impacts.
No matter how the product is improved, "double protection" remains the core principle of industrial rope access work. Simply put: “Do not rely solely on a single piece of equipment to guarantee safety.”
